Starting Math with Number Sticks

Confession: I handle billion-peso brands but I am a math-hater.  I've learned to live with profit-and-loss statements (more accurately, my bosses have learned to live with me) but nothing makes me more jittery than a discussion on targets, forecasts and net profits.  

But what I dread the most nowadays?  Parenting a child through the world of math.

Thankfully I discovered Montessori Math and its modern manipulative: simple coloured rods called Cuisenaire Rods, Math Rods or Number Sticks.  Not only do they make math fun, they make math real.  

Now I'm embarrassingly in love with them.
